What's Your Game Plan? You Can Borrow Mine
Plus a recipe for Carrot Soup with Ginger and Miso to get you through the week
Hello friend! I’m so glad you’re here. Cooking Lessons is a weekly newsletter of recipes to inspire you and help you get homemade food on the table. I’ve got some extra little ‘lessons’ too, and I hope they make your cooking easier. When I see a new subscriber in my inbox (free or paid) or when you share a post, my heart flutters just a little. Check out the index of recipes, all downloadable and ready to print. You’ll find my cookbook links here.
This newsletter wouldn’t be possible without YOU! Enormous thanks to all who choose to support my work with a paid subscription. Other ways to support me: share this post with friends and buy and gift my books.
Wishing you, your family and your friends a joyful Thanksgiving. Good food on the table brings us together and uplifts us. ❤️
************ *********** *************
Hello! Are you getting excited for Thanksgiving? I am. To be honest, it’s the pie!
With family far away this year, it will be quiet. It’s a mixed bag. I love not stressing about a big feast, but I’ll miss the comfort of communal cooking and fussing about the turkey and the mashed potatoes and the everything of the day.
For me, not having hordes to feed makes me feel a little anxious. I’ll have to sit this one out; I’ve been relegated to armchair cook. The good news is that I can freely dispense unsolicited advice to anyone who asks me. Go ahead, ask me!
Okay, you didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway. I’ve been called bossy by a few of my relatives. Ouch!
This list assumes you will be doing the lion’s share of the work. You can print it out and cross off everything you’ve delegated. Win!
GAME PLAN
I’m probably forgetting a few details. The point is to make exhaustive lists. If (or when) things go awry, those lists are your lifeline.
This Weekend:
•Clean out your freezer and your fridge.
There’s probably a lot in there you can eat all week long. Leftovers are underrated. Just grab a few tortillas, add cheese and whatever odds and ends you have. Supper! It’s a two-fer.
