We’re coming into salad days. Let’s take it literally.
While "salad days" refers to the Shakespearean idiom about returning to a period of carefree innocence, idealism, and the pleasure associated with youth, it doesn’t quite match what I’m feeling about the state of things right now. I may be tempted to stick my head in the sand, but I don’t want to dwell there. I’ve got a timer set to limit my news consumption. Enough to keep me informed but not enough to send me to bed to pull the covers over my head. Time’s a wasting, and I have meals to cook.
I have opinions. No one could fault me for not having any. But for now, I’ll stick to salad.
